Vote for me...!

1 min read
I've entered a few photos into a 'british weather' competition, doubt I'll get any where but you never know!

The final, judged 'proper' competition is in October, but there's a weekly prize based on public votes. If anyone fancies taking 30 seconds to vote I'd be most grateful :-)

Luckily you don't need to register or anything irritating like that, just click if you like one... or not, as the case may be ;-)

Photos are:

A Touch of Colour
Highland Bridge
Stormy Seas

Am finally back home after a grueling 6 days driving and photographing in Scotland and Northumbria over the Easter break.

I spent two terrible weeks on the Isle of Skye when I was a student, mapping various geological structures in the worst recorded weather for 150 years. Since then I've always wanted to return and see the island with my camera, preferably in better weather! I had my chance this Easter, and as I and a friend had driven up we decided to break our return with a stop over in Northumbria to try and photograph a castle or two...

Given that I could only go over the Easter weekend, so had no control over the weather or tides, I think we were remarkably lucky with how it went. We got 4 out of 5 sunsets and 3 out of 5 sunrises, only really losing 1 1/2 days to rain - that's pretty good going for April weather in Scotland I feel ;-)

I'll be uploading shots as & when I get a chance to go through them, hopefully you'll find one or two you like!

My interview has been published, along with 4 of my photos, in issue 93 of Digital Photography Magazine. I picked up a copy the other day and had a read through - pictures look good, although a touch darker than they actually are, and I think I've more or less managed to avoid sounding like an idiot in the interview. So overall pretty good :-)

Have also redesigned my website to coincide with this, although naturally have not actually managed to finished it - that would be too good! Still, it is live and (more or less) working so feel free to have a look ;-)

I've been contacted by Digital Photographer magazine wanting to interview me for an article on coastal photography!

I haven't the faintest idea what to say and the fact I'm going to be in as a 'featured expert' isn't filling me with confidence either ;-)

I only really have one piece of advice... and that's to always take a spare pair of socks with you! Somehow I fear they'll want a bit more than that little pearl of wisdom...

Still, flattering to be asked & all that :-)

I've been taking a bit of a break from photography, but this morning decided to have another go.

After my 4:30 am start so far today I have:
1. Got lost (car)
2. Got lost (on foot)
3. Been chased by farm dog
4. Fallen in a ditch
5. Got stuck in mud
6. Got lost (on foot)
7. Had to walk an extra 3 miles to get back to my car
8. Almost got run over and...
9. Fell in large patch of brambles whilst avoiding being run over.

I didn't even get any good photos either!

Stupid hobby, maybe I should take another break ;-)

On the plus side the location did show promise, so I think I'll just write this morning off as a scouting trip.
